Also called caps, crowns cover the portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line. When a tooth's structure is compromised by a crack, fracture, or repeated fillings, Dr. Timmerman will use a crown to restore the tooth's appearance and strength. Depending on the location of the tooth, Dr. Timmerman will use all ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) or gold materials.
With CEREC, the latest dental technology, we can place a permanent crown in one appointment, so you won't have to worry about a temporary crown and follow-up visit. Dr. Timmerman uses the CEREC machine to take an image of your tooth and then mill the porcelain crown in the office. You will leave your appointment with a solid, attractive restoration.
